Northwestern Mutual's West Virginia offices consist of hard–working people who enjoy each other’s company and the culture within. Their ethics and values are very much the same, which has enabled them to be successful. When a new representative starts, Northwestern Mutual as a whole wants to help see that person succeed.

That’s why Northwestern Mutual offers a variety of supportive elements. New representatives meet weekly with their mentors  to make sure they are continuing down the path of  success, and they also meet  with other more seasoned and successful financial representatives regularly  to get answers to their specific questions.

Northwestern Mutual also encourages professional development by offering financial assistance for representatives who want to continue their educational development, especially for the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designations and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) certification—three marks of professionalism in our industry.

Northwestern Mutual also offers rewarding internships to college students who are interested in seeking a career in this business. With our internship opportunity, students are able to get a real–life experience and learn about this business for themselves. We offer our interns a training and development program that will help them decide if becoming a financial representative is right for them. Our interns come from many colleges and universities throughout the region, including West Virginia University, Marshall University and the University of Charleston.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER and CFP (with flame logo)®, which it awards to individuals who successfully complete initial and ongoing certification requirements.

As a financial representative intern, you'll get real-world job experience as you discover a career with flexibility and rewards.
